Welcome to confessions of a... rookie poker player! This webblog documents my experience with online poker starting at the beginning.

Tonight’s games

Posted June 14th, 2008 - Posted in The Rookie Poker Player |

Was able to fit in 2 hrs tonight at the tables.  Happily doubling-up once or twice before being taken down for playing without thinking.

Although I’m no professional, when I start at a table I perform very well and raise my chips regularly.  My trouble is that I will carry on too long without taking a break.  It’s important to realise when you are tired or not thinking straight.  I don’t think I ever play automatically (like when you are driving on a motorway and can’t remember the last few miles) but I will often over-stretch myself when I’m not thinking clearly.  If you aren’t thinking straight then you can bleed chips and loose track of your chip count.

My advice is not to play for longer than an hour without sitting out a few hands.  Make a cup of tea and stretch your legs because you won’t want to be getting nagging pains or need the loo when you are in the middle of a great hand.

By the way my nickname is “the_a98″ on A-Winning-Hand.com poker if you fancy playing a bit of heads-up poker.
